What to do in the event of a BOMB THREAT听

NOTE: Refer to听the听Code Black, Bomb Threats, policy # EP-08-004, for protocols unique to the patient care setting and the Bomb Threat Checklist.听

If you receive a threatening call:听

If possible, signal to another person that you are receiving a bomb threat. Instructions for second person:

1. 听Keep Calm
2. Note and write down the phone number of the incoming call.
3. Note the time of the call.
4. Note exact words of caller.听 Keep the caller on the phone as long as possible.
5. Note description of voice, age, sex and any discernable background noise.
6. Call 911 and report the threat.

Questions to ask:

1. When is the bomb going to explode?听
2. Where is it right now?听听
3. What does it look like?听
4. What kind of bomb is it?
5. How big is the bomb?
6. What will cause it to explode?
7. 听Did you place the bomb?
8. Why?
9. What is your address?听听
10. What is your name?听听

If there is more than one bomb, gather the same information that was obtained for the first bomb.
