How many positions does the fellowship offer?
The program offers 3 positions every year for cardiovascular fellowship training; applications are reviewed the ERAS program and we participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Does the program sponsor visas for International Medical Graduates?
ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú´«Ã½ÎÄ»¯×÷Æ· College of medicine sponsors J1- visa when required. It does not sponsor H1B visas.Ìý
What is the typical procedural volume for graduating fellows?Ìý
Last year graduating fellows averaged:
- ~400 left heart catheterizations
- ~150 right heart catheterization
- >1000 transthoracic echocardiogram
- >150 transesophageal echocardiogram
- ~200 Lexiscan
- >70 stress echos.
What does a typical Call schedule look like?Ìý
- PGY-IV: 11 Weekend calls, 34 weekday calls
- PGY-V:ÌýÌý4 Weekend calls, 23 weekday calls
- PGY-VI: 3 Weekend calls, 11 weekday calls
Do we have a night float system?
We do not have a night float system. Fellows take calls from home and typically only come back to the hospital for STEMIs.Ìý
What does a typical rotation schedule look like?
Here is a recent schedule:
- First year: 5 inpatient consults/CCU,Ìý2 ECHO/TEE, 2 Cath, 2 Nuclear, 1 EP, 1 Research,
- Second year: 3 inpatient consults/CCU, 2 ECHO/TEE, 2 Cath, 2 Nuclear, 1 Research, 3 Electives
- Third years: 1 inpatient consults/CCU, 2 ECHO/TEE, 2 Cath, 2 Nuclear, 1 EP, 1 Research, 1 Vascular, 1 CT Surgery, 1 Congenital
