How many positions does the fellowship offer?
The program offers 2 positions every year for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship; applications are reviewed through the ERAS program and we participate in the National Residency Match Program (NRMP).
Does the program sponsor visas for International Medical Graduates?
ÍÃ×ÓÏÈÉú´«Ã½ÎÄ»¯×÷Æ· College of Medicine sponsors J-1 and H1-B Visas when required.
What kind of pathology does a fellow see?Â
- Pneumonia - CAP, HAP, VAP
- Complicated UTI
- Soft tissue infections
- Diabetic foot and osteomyelitis
- Endocarditis - bacterial and fungal
- Infections in transplant and cancer patients
- Complicated orthopedic infections
- Postoperative intra-abdominal infections
- Infections in pregnant women
- Complications of HIV/AIDS
- Meningitis, ventriculitis and brain abscess

Do we have a night float system?
We do not have a night float system. Fellows take calls from home and typically only come back to the hospital for emergencies.Â
What does a typical Yearly schedule look like?
Here is a recent schedule:
- First year: 6 months inpatient services, 3 months scholarship, quality improvement and research, 1 microbiology, 1 electiveÂ
- Second year: 6 months inpatient services, 3 months scholarship, quality improvement and research, 1 elective, 1 transplant inpatient away rotation (Cleveland Clinic or Henry Ford)
