About Dr. Kenneth Kropp

In 1971, Dr. Kenneth Kropp joined the then Medical College of Ohio, where he quickly became a leader in patient care, education, and academic medicine. He served as Program Director of the Urology Residency Program from 1971 through 2000, making him one of the longest-serving urology residency program directors in the country.听
听
Dr. Kropp was a pioneer in pediatric urology and renal transplantation, helping establish and maintain a robust transplant program in Toledo while providing more than 61 years of specialized urologic, pediatric, and oncologic care. He also served as Director of Pediatric Surgical Services at Mercy Children鈥檚 Hospital and contributed extensively to the field through publications, book chapters, and invited lectures.听
听
Perhaps Dr. Kropp鈥檚 greatest legacy is his love for teaching. He encouraged residents and students to think critically and develop confidence in their own clinical judgment. Many former trainees fondly recall hearing him say, 鈥淧ut your thinking cap on,鈥 before guiding them through a problem step by step.
听
Although Dr. Kropp officially retired in 2018, his impact continues to be felt throughout the urologic community. Together, Dr. Kenneth and Sharon Kropp have remained deeply committed to advancing the specialty through their generous support of the Kenneth A. Kropp Fund. Since 2017, their philanthropy has helped support education, research, and innovation, ensuring that future generations of physicians and patients benefit from the same spirit of excellence that defined Dr. Kropp鈥檚 career.
